My Philosophy
01.
Aside from the camera and gears you need to prepare. My late Professor taught me this phrase "right place at the right time".
It simply means being there where you need to and prepare to click that shutter button when the time is right.
02.
I know this one is cliché. But more than the rule of thirds, Fibonacci sequence, leading lines, and other things to consider in taking a good photograph, this thing honestly trapped me from being creative in most of my shots.
Applying these rules while focusing more on them than on the story you want to portray can make a good photograph lose its true value.
03.
There are indeed good and not so good photographs. It's a fact, and its subjective.
But fear not. Don't be ashamed. It's part of your growth as an artist. I myself don't claim I don't have not so good photographs in my storage. But be happy and content with your progress until such time you discover your identity.
04.
For sure all artists can relate to this one, especially those people who are having a hard time discovering it, just like me. XD
I have this experience where in one of my classmates had identified the artist who made a specific artwork without looking at the signature. How cool is that! Having your personal unique style be recognized by anyone is a fulfilling one.
05.
Making the most out of your camera in terms of settings (reciprocity law, white balance, etc.) before pressing the shutter button makes a photograph a less hassle one. This is a subjective one. But part of my philosophy as an artist is that, it feels more authentic that way than to post-process (color grade, manipulate) it afterwards.
Always have a story to tell
My journey not only as a photographer but as an artist is not just simply impressing the people with the aesthetics, but more of the story it tells and its contribution to the world.
